At the 4th Executive Council Meeting, Saturday 8th November 2025, at the Husaini Islamic Centre in Peterborough, members across Europe welcomed a presentation from Brother Muntazir Rai, Director at Who Is Hussain, as part of a wider discussion on strengthening awareness and propagation of the message of Imam Hussain (a.s) beyond the Shia community.
The discussion began with reflections on the growth and impact of Who Is Hussain—an organisation that originated from within the community and has since expanded globally.
A key focus of the discussion centred on how Jamaats can collectively enhance visibility and awareness during Muharram, particularly around Ashura. Brother Muntazir presented two proposals for consideration:
- Visibility outside centres – placing banners during Muharram to inform neighbours and the wider public about the commemoration of Imam Hussain (a.s), with links to whoishussain.org for further learning.
- A brief awareness slot – a short presentation (a couple of minutes) around Ashura to encourage congregants to utilise prepared digital and printed resources to share the message of Imam Hussain (a.s) through workplaces, schools, and social platforms.
This spirit of collaboration across the leaders present reflects the teaching of Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (a.s), who said:
Agreement: A unanimous agreement was reached, with Jamaats expressing their full commitment to support the initiative in a practical and collaborative manner, with some flexibility to suit local jamaat set-up.
CoEJ and Who Is Hussain are committed to working together as a community to amplify the message of Imam Hussain (a.s) through meaningful and impactful engagement.
